Joppa is a strategic port city of great economic and military significance in the country of Philistia. In the Son of Samson comic, Joppa is the settlement where Branan's uncle Mathias and his family relocate when they are run out of Ashkelon for having family ties with the Hebrew enemy of the Philstines, Samson. It is also the city in which Commander Sidon's garrison is located.
